In the TP52 World Championship, the American team aboard Quantum Racing claimed the title on Audi Azzurra’s home waters and the Italian team, being the perfect hosts, congratulated the winners.

'We are proud to have hosted this World Championship,' declared Riccardo Bonadeo, Commodore of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, 'even if the winds on the Costa Smeralda were not what they usually are. My congratulations go to Quantum, speaking not only as Commodore of the host Club but also as Team Principal of Azzurra'.

Today Azzurra once again battled with light breezes and choppy seas and despite perfect sailing in the first race of the day claimed only third place and was unlucky in the final race of the series.

Guillermo Parada, skipper of Audi Azzurra Sailing Team, summed up the season: 'It was a difficult season as we didn't get the results we worked for. On the positive side, third place in the Audi MedCup is nevertheless a good result and we have finished this season with a volume of experience that makes us a better team than we were at the start, which certainly bodes well for the Audi Medcup 2012. We are already working on that and a new Azzurra is already in the design phase.'

Vasco Vascotto also concluded looking to the future: ' The World Championship was held in light winds that are not the norm for the Costa Smeralda in Autumn and this definitely affected the result. We didn't get what we expected, considering that we sailed very well. Personally I only regret a mistake in the last race where I missed a wind shift, even though it wouldn't have affected the final classification.

We will see our supporters again next year as we are lucky enough to have a Yacht Club, an owner and a sponsor who believe in us and are giving us the chance to sail a new, more competitive boat. In the Audi MedCup 2012 we will definitely be one of the teams to beat'.
