Free ladies Laser training at South Lake Macquarie ASC

by PSA on 14 Sep 2011
SW
The free ladies training weekend being held at Sunshine, Lake Macquarie in New South Wales on 17 and 18 September is shaping up to be a well attended day. So far 30 applications have been received. Registration is still open, the information and online registration can be found here.

Yachting NSW are sponsoring a BBQ each day, providing a coach boat and together with the NSW and ACT Laser Class Association funding the coaching, employing; Olympian and NSW Emerging Talent Squad Coach, Laura Baldwin and two-times Laser Youth World Champion Gabrielle King.

Seven of the participants want to try a Laser for the first time and will be using the boats kindly provided by PSA. Two of the seven are keelboat sailors who think Laser sailing might be for them, two used to sail when they were younger and want to get back into the sport, two are in their early twenties and have sailed other classes and would like to change to the Laser and compete in this year’s Sail Down Under Series and one youth who is looking to see if she wants to move into Lasers when she transitions out of the Sabot.

The six sailors with their own boats range from 13 to 51 years. Upon receiving the advertising for the Ladies Training one lady decided she should use the redundant Laser in her garage that her son used to sail. A couple of girls are keen to get talent scouted for the Yachting NSW Emerging Talent Laser Squad.

Hopefully the weather is kind and everyone has a good time making new friends and learning new PSA website
