David Kellett (AUS) is one of two International Sailing Federation Technical delegates attending the Weymouth and Portland International Regatta, the Olympic Test Event.
The International Sailing Federation is charged with oversight of the Olympic Regatta Preparations, working with the London Olympic Organising Committee.
The Australian also acted as Technical Delegate at the Beijing 2008 Games and as the ISAF liaison in the Sydney 2000 Games and he is impressed with how the preparations for the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition are going, 'The venue is fantastic. The layout that the RYA were involved in with the Weymouth and Portland people has shown that they were well ahead of the game.'
Kellett has been working closely with ISAF Technical Delegate and ISAF Events Manager Alastair Fox (GBR) and LOCOG Sailing Manager Rob Andrews (GBR) throughout the week and Kellett added, 'So far so good. It is only early but everything's been done. I think Rob Andrews and Rod Carr have done a very good job in getting everything set up here and managing that process.'
And on the role Kellett plays he added, 'It always is busy; it's amazing where the days go with the various meetings and then making sure that everyone's got what they need. And our role is making sure there's a fair playing field and that takes a lot of time.'
