Auckland International Boat Show preview at Sydney

by NZ Marine on 26 Jul 2011

The Sydney Boat Show will provide a fitting opportunity to promote the next big maritime event in the South Pacific: the Auckland International Boat Show, 15 to 18 September, in Auckland, New Zealand.

The show’s organiser, New Zealand Marine Industry, and Auckland City will have a team on Stand 708 on the Promenade at the Sydney Boat Show – but along with a preview of what to expect at the Auckland show, expect plenty of Aussie-Kiwi banter on the Rugby World Cup and the fact that Australian Chris Nicholson is skippering the Emirates Team New Zealand entry, Camper, in the 2012-12 Volvo Ocean Race.

This year’s Auckland International Boat Show will be New Zealand’s biggest ever on-water boat show as it reaps the benefit of major development and investment in the Rugby World Cup 2011. On the Friday of the boat show, in the evening, New Zealand meets Japan in the RWC and on the Saturday, Australia meets Ireland in Auckland at Australia’s second RWC game in the tournament.

A popular display will be the classic yacht fleet, including restored boats of up to 110 years old. Superyachts will be berthed nearby, preparing for their summer cruising season in New Zealand.

NZMI will host a Superyacht Captains Forum in the Viaduct Events Centre over the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the show. For the duration of the Rugby World Cup, from 9 September to 23 October, international visitors may also join the NZ Marine National Yards Tour of selected boat yards or join New Zealand company-hosted events at Rugby World Cup games. For more information see www.nzmarine.com.

Special accommodation and RWC tickets deals with HOT Events
NZMI has been working closely with HOT Events (part of House of Travel) to secure accommodation for exhibitors. Through this relationship, NZMI has secured some great room rates plus the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Australia v Ireland game on the Saturday night of the show. This could be a great opportunity to host your clients or key staff, while you’re in Auckland for the show.

RWC tickets and Eden Park hosting opportunities
NZMI is working with the official RWC Travel and Hospitality supplier, Rugby Travel & Hospitality (NZ) Ltd to secure NZMI members and AIBS exhibitors with access to official hosting packages and tickets for all RWC games.
