Beneteau's 'Dock & Go' - taking docking to a new level

Beneteau Sense 50 - just one of the boats that features Dock and Go SW
Beneteau's new Dock & Go system really is both innovative and revolutionary, taking the process of docking to a new level. Taking the uncertainty out of the manoeuvring to bring your yacht into a dock, it provides the solution that will let you handle your boat in close quarters with ease, with just one hand.
Thanks to its joystick, which synchronises a pivoting saildrive base and bowthruster, Dock & Go allows you to manoeuvre the yacht calmly, whatever the wind and tide or port layout. Fun and very intuitive, the system makes berthing the boat in a restricted space easy and gives a precision of movement without comparison.
The system combines the assistance of the engine and bowthruster, giving the same thrust both astern and ahead. Compatible with feathering or folding propellers, Dock & Go optimises a yacht’s thrust for all-round manoeuvrability.
The key is the 'cross-shaped' joystick at the helm position. When coming alongside, the bowthruster is synchronised with a 360° pivoting saildrive base by the use of a controller. The helm stays locked automatically during the manoeuvre.
The ability to move 90° to port or starboard, forward, astern or turn on the spot allows you to move the boat in a limited space and to access the most complex berthing situations.
Going astern is achieved by pivoting the saildrive with no loss of power, saildrive rotation is carried out in half a second with the help of an electric motor. By pivoting 180°, the pod allows the propellers to provide the same amount of power when moving astern as ahead.
With the engine and the bowthruster working together - a feature which is specific to the Dock and Go system - there is increased safety for the boat, the dock and the crew.
The Dock & Go system is offered as an option on many models fitted with Yanmar 75 HP SD engines, including
the Oceanis 46 and Oceanis 50 as well as the Sense (50’).
Watch the ease with which this boat is handled in the following video, and you are certain to be convinced that this really is new technology, ideal for the cruising sailor:
