Telwater has signed an agreement with a Chinese company to supply engines throughout its Australian dealer network. Genovo-Power, says Damien Duncan Telwater’s director of marketing and sales, produces 'as many outboards as the whole Aust market sells, more than 35,000 engines last year'.
Under the brand Vortex with a range up to 40hp in 2 and 4 stroke engines, the outboards will be sold by Telwater dealers in a move Duncan describes as 'protecting our Australian manufacturing and quality for our customers'.
'We have decided to take on distributing because we want to keep people employed in Australia and protect customers from the variety of imported US and Chinese engines that are out there. Most of all we want to be able to provide better value for dealers and their customers, by supplying dealers with competitively priced outboards.'
The official launch of Vortex to the public will be at Sydney International Boat Show in July.
