NSW Maritime today advised boating restrictions would be in place this weekend (14-15 May) for the Barry Carne Memorial Ski Race at Lake Albert, Wagga Wagga.
NSW Maritime Chief Executive Steve Dunn said race organisers had been granted exclusive use of Lake Albert for the weekend.
'Boating restrictions will apply to the whole of Lake Albert for both Saturday May 14 and Sunday May 15,' Mr Dunn said.
'Only vessels authorised as part of the ski race event will be permitted to use the lake.'
'Rescue vessels will patrol the lake and organisers will advise boaters of the lake closure.'
Mr Dunn said in recent times the drought conditions led to the cancellation of the race, which has been run for many years.
'The return of the race competition is welcome and follows this year’s high rainfall,' he said.
The event is a major drawcard for Wagga Wagga, generating significant benefits for the town while also promoting the sport of water skiing.
