Seaward Marine chooses Raymarine as sole marine electronics supplier

by Liza Sticpewich on 12 Apr 2011 Seaward Marine Ltd has become the latest boat builder to announce an exclusive supply arrangement with marine electronics manufacturer Raymarine.

The announcement coincided with the launch of the new Seaward 35 Motor Yacht, which has been fully equipped with Raymarine technology. This includes the C120 Widescreen multifunction display, HD Digital Radar with HD radome, AIS receiver, ST60 instruments, SPX30 autopilot, Ray 240E VHF with Digital Selective Calling, and the CAM100 day and night camera.

Seaward Marine’s Managing Director Barry Kimber says Raymarine has always been the company’s preferred choice for navigation electronics due to the user friendly operation and reliability. He says, 'All our boats are custom built, and by and large most of our customers already choose Raymarine because of its excellent reputation for being intuitively easy to use. We have now decided to offer Raymarine exclusively only on the list of customer options across the whole of the Seaward range of craft.'

Seaward’s semi-displacement motorboats and workboats are specifically designed to withstand heavy seas and, as workboats and commercial vessels, are used even in the most extreme conditions. 'Reliability is of particular importance when handing over a new boat to a customer,' stated Kimber, 'and that is why we have chosen Raymarine as our exclusive electronics supplier. The technology has to work, at all times, and in all conditions.'

One of the more popular recent additions to the Raymarine range, according to Seaward Marine, is the onboard video observation systems, the CAM100 external day and night camera and the CAM50 interior camera. The new Seaward 35 has a CAM100 fitted on the aft of the boat facing backwards, acting like a rear view mirror in a car. 'It’s a particularly useful safety feature in crowded shipping areas when boaters need to keep an eye out for vessels approaching fast from behind them,' explained Kimber.

Seaward Marine boats are also being fitted with Raymarine’s new HD Digital radar technology, using the compact HD Digital radome. This gives users clearly defined targets and detailed colour radar displays, which significantly helps identify other vessels or obstructions in the vicinity.
