Rolex Farr 40 World Championship 2011 - Sydney Australia and the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron really turned it on to make the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship 2011 a fantastic event that was hard fought right to the finish line of the last race.

Congratulations to local owner Guido Belgiorno-Nettis and the crew of Transfusion for a close win over defending champion Massimo Mezzaroma and Antonio Sodo Migliori's Nerone from Italy. Congratulations also to Wolfgang and Angela Schaefer and the Struntje Light team on being the first ever winner of the newly created Rolex Farr 40 World Championship Corinthian Trophy.

The twenty boat fleet enjoyed spectacular conditions in the Tasman Sea for four days of great racing, which was made available to web viewers anywhere in the world via Virtual Eye, courtesy of Rolex, that resulted in a huge number of web site hits.

The owners and crews that competed have all come away with a positive energy that the Class is strong and growing, and a commitment from more than five Australian boats to compete at the 2012 event in Chicago, as well as the European circuit this year. It is extremely encouraging to see some past owners who were competing with chartered boats showing strong interest in buying boats and getting back into the Class.

The Class Annual General Meeting was held on February 19 and was well attended, with minutes to follow soon. Congratulations and thanks go to the new Class Chairman Jim Richardson and President Martin Hill.

We are happy to let you know that all five items that were on the ballot slate were adopted unanimously and the new Corinthian Class of membership is therefore in place. You will find a revised 2011 Application Form that may be used to complete the membership process. Corinthian owners please note that the one-time free One Design Certificate and nine sail buttons only apply to owners who have not been class members since 2008.

We can confirm that the dates of the Punta Ala Regatta have been changed to May 5 - 8 to avoid conflict with the RC 44 and TP 52 events and that the Porto Cervo event has been changed to June 29 - July 2 to avoid conflict with the Giraglia Race and the ORC World Championship. Based on popular demand we are scheduling two events for Istanbul and eliminating the Palma event and have published the new updated 2011 international calendar of events which will be on the web site this week.

We apologize for these changes to the schedule and the delays in bring them to you but they are only being made to maximize attendance at our regattas. We anticipate publishing the Notice of Race for the Rolex North American Championship 2011 to be held at Long Beach Yacht Club, California, May 27 - 30 soon and are looking forward to a healthy fleet that will encompass a substantial influx of new Corinthian members from that region. We are now looking forward to 2012 and planning the calendar well in advance for everyone's convenience.

We are delighted to announce that the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship 2012 in Chicago is scheduled for September 19 - 22 so you can start making plans for that event, which will be preceded by a late 2011 event in Miami, Key West Race Week, a March event in Miami, a spring event in Annapolis, a North American Championship in Newport RI and other events to be decided.
