Rolly Tasker Sails 2023 LEADERBOARD

Graham Hall Team Race - Update from the U.S. Navy Sailing Team

by Brendan Healy on 6 Mar 2011
Graham Hall Team Race SW
Graham Hall Team Race.

Today competition was sailed out of the U.S. Naval Academy in southerly breezes that ranged from nine to 15 knots with puffs into the lower 20s, cloudy skies, and temps in the mid 50s.

Teams were initially split into two groups of eight based on their Sailing World rankings and sailed one round robin each before splitting into Gold and Silver groupings of eight teams each. Two 'College N' courses were used utilizing the Academy's fleets of both 420s and FJs divided between each course. Races were fully umpired on both circles immensely cutting down on formal protest hearings and maximizing racing.

After a total of 100 races, 50 on each course, the leader board stands with Boston College in the one spot, followed by Roger Williams, and St. Mary's, with the entirety of the Gold round robin yet to be finished.

Tomorrow will see the completion of the Gold and Silver round robins, followed by a final four knock out in the Gold fleet to determine the 2011 Graham Hall Team Race champions. Thank you to the team of on-the-water judges led by Chief Judge Rob Overton and the squad of Midshipmen that helped to keep the racing going, as well as to our multitude of volunteers.
