Sydney takes Oprah sailing

What else would sailing-mad Sydneysiders do to show visiting talk show star Oprah Winfrey the sights? Why take her sailing of course!

...and what better than a Beneteau First 47.7 called Eagle Rock, which is normally used for sailing students up and down the coast from Sydney to the Whitsundays.

There were 20 other boats trailing as Oprah sailed around the famous harbour. Russell Crowe, part-time Australian and part-time New Zealander, was also there with his wife Danielle Spencer. They were trailed by about 20 other yachts.

Wearing a white cap given to her by Crowe and emblazoned with the logo of his South Sydney Rabbitohs professional rugby team, Winfrey beamed as she sat at the stern of the boat. 'I'm having the time of my life,' she said.

The Oprah fleet enjoyed morning tea while flanked by water police and police helicopters.

While there was an exclusion zone in force, Oprah did have the opportunity to spot alongside another boat as it passed because she wanted to chat to a crew who had their dog on-board.

On Tuesday, Oprah will film two shows in front of 12,000 Australians in the Sydney Opera House forecourt. Special guests include:

Russell Crowe,
Hugh Jackman,
Nicole Kidman,
Bon Jovi and...
Jay-Z.
