Jon Shaw, diver and cinematographer, is celebrating another win for his film 'Underwater NSW: Sydney', which has received Silver at the Australian Cinematographer Society NSW/ACT Awards last Saturday, 20 November 2010.

Shaw worked on the project for over three years and said of the win: 'I was absolutely ecstatic when notified of the award, it’s a great honour to be recognised by the Australian Cinematographer’s Society.'

Underwater NSW: Sydney has been showered with praise since its release in 2009.

It was the winner of the 2009 Wetpixel Sensational Seas contest. The reward - The film's introduction is set to feature on the prestigious 2010 Sensational Seas movie, narrated by Stan Waterman, Emmy Award-winning pioneer underwater film producer and photographer. Then in July 2010, it placed third in the Underwater Australasia 2010 Video Contest.

'For me, Awards are icing on the cake and this one is definitely double chocolate!' It’s just fantastic to be able to get up each day and go out diving and experience the beauty of the ocean – and call it work. Sydneysiders are so lucky to have these beautiful waterways at their doorsteps,' said Jon.

With over 500 dives across eight of Sydney's finest underwater locations, the film brings a part of Sydney to life that few will ever get the chance to discover. From the shallow protected beaches of the harbour through to Magic Point, home of the critically endangered Grey Nurse Shark off Maroubra, Underwater NSW: Sydney is a marvel.

The award-winning DVD makes an excellent Christmas gift for first-time or experienced divers, snorkelers or just those wishing to see what goes on under the waves. It’s a great way to promote Sydney’s great diving and snorkelling.
