St.Maarten Heineken Regatta - After a successful inaugural year as the title sponsor for the Gill Comodores Cup, GillL has signed on for two more years of sponsorship. This spinnaker class only event is a pre-event to the St.Maarten Heineken Regatta and gives the boats an additional day of racing. It allows the crews and boats the opportunity to warm up for the weekend of sailing, while still offering them challenging Windward-Leeward courses. In its fifth year, this event has held its ground and kept a steady entry field of around 40 boats each year.

Gill is an apparel and accessories leader in the worldwide marine industry for over three decades and specializes in high tech, breathable waterproof clothing. The company tests, designs and markets a variety of performance-oriented, award-winning apparel and accessories for virtually every type of boating activity with product lines that include foul weather gear; interactive layering systems; footwear; gloves; bags; junior gear; scholastic gear and team wear.

As a result the partnership with Gill is highly suitable and appropriate for this event. Gill will offer on site through Budget Marine a Commodores Cup clothing collection decorated with the Commodores Cup Regatta Branding.

The Commodores Cup will this year take place on Thursday the third of March. After a nice day of racing, prize giving will be held at Port de Plaisance. Last year’s competitors included Titan 15, skippered by Tom Hill which was one of the top class boats coming to the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta that year and Sin Duda, skippered by Lindsey Duda, which started their Caribbean tour with the Commodores Cup in St. Maarten and continued to have a very successful season at other regattas.
