The SSAA is exhibiting Phil Bowers Mini 'Wild Child' at this weekends Sydney Sail Boat Show at Rozelle. This Mini was launched earlier this year and started in the SSAA double handed race to Auckland, but rudder problems forced her early retirement, together with another mini in the race, that of Chris Sayer from NZ. Phil promptly repaired the rudder pintels, sailed singlehanded to New Plymouth, NZ, to compete in the single handed New Plymouth to Mooloolaba race, which he won in fine style.
Liz Wardley and Chris Sayer are currently building new minis in NZ due to hit the water in the not too distant future. Another SSAA member, John Rich, has today announced his intention to build a Mini ASAP, so we may see a fleet of these 'skiffs on steroids' sailing around Sydney soon.
