Hobie 16 North American Championships - Day three saw excitement building on the beach this morning as the sand was blowing and the boats were hopping on the beach.
The sailors knew this was going to be a big breeze day and Lake Mohave didn’t disappoint. The wind was from the northwest again at 23 knots but faded as the day went on. The mark boats were kept busy tending flipped boats and there were some spectacular crashes.
By race four the wind had calmed to 10-12 knots. Enrique Figeuroa/Victor Aponte (PUR) continue to hold the lead followed by Jason Hess/Guillermo Rosemberg (GUA) and Francisco Figeuroa/Jolie Berrios (PUR). Paul Hess/Mary Ann Hess (USA) stole the lead in the last race from Enrique breaking his race winning streak. Greg Thomas/John Williams (USA) are in sixth place and lead for the USA Pan AM qualifier.
