Saveke Offshore Expeditions Ltd is offering offshore sailing adventures aboard “Saveke”, a Laurie Davidson 48’ fast cruising sloop. Our planned 17-month world circumnavigation starts June 2003.

We have an ambitious schedule selected for the 2003-2004 season. Starting from Auckland, New Zealand and sailing the downwind trade wind route. Auckland, Cairns, (Australia), Darwin, Cocos Keeling, Mauritius, Reunion Island, Durban, Cape Town, Walvis Bay (Namibia), Saint Helena, Ascension Island, Trinidad, Isla Margarita, Bonaire, Aruba, San Blas Islands and Panama. Basically staying within the southern hemisphere until the southern Caribbean, where we will complete the Panama Canal transit, then dip back down south to the Galapagos Islands. From there we will head for Tahiti, Cook islands, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu and back home to New Zealand.

We are the ideal springboard for the potential boat buyer, or the boat owner who is not sure where to start. We offer a great way to gain the confidence needed to safely and confidently operate your own boat to exotic offshore destinations.

“Saveke” passengers will be signed on as crew, and will conduct all crew duties. We will delegate duties as the crew demonstrates their ability to perform such duties. We will train all crew in all duties, such as emergency procedures, standing watch, navigation, cooking, sail trim, lookout, and all aspects of offshore sailing.

Planning your trip is made easy for you with our consultation from start to finish: including visas, health requirements, travel arrangement & logistics.

“Saveke” is my 4th sailing vessel, with thousands of sea miles under my belt to date. I have sailed the Pacific extensively on both my CT 37 “Odds Bodkins” and my 40’ catamaran “Fantasy” along with my wife Raewyn whom I met in Sydney in 1982 during my travels. We have covered the Pacific extensively and know of many really ‘special’ anchorages we hope to revisit with you. We have been ashore for several years now, and our search for the ideal boat to complete our circumnavigation is “Saveke”. She is neither the traditional slow full keel cruising boat, nor the seat of the pants fast machine. “Saveke” is a New Zealand Registered Vessel and has already seen some fast offshore passages around the Pacific. She meets all the strict NZ Category I requirements for all NZ Registered Vessels departing NZ for offshore passages.

This journey is planned to avoid hot spots, hostile countries and hurricane seasons. We allow a few weeks in most ports to allow for weather delays, but plan this circumnavigation as an expedition, and expect to stay on schedule. We recommend that when joining “Saveke” you plan to arrive at your departure point one or two days early and ‘chill out’, especially if you’re coming from a high stress environment, and be ready for your adventure. Saveke is in tiptop shape and ready for you to come join us for the adventure and Experience of a lifetime.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard.
