Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race - Al Ezz, a boat owned by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, was crowned the champion in the first round of the 22 feet race
The event, organised by Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC), saw the participation of 50 boats and took place between World Islands and Jumeirah port 1. The race's competitiveness intensified during the end, as Al Ezz managed to pass Al Barez, owned by Taresh Al Qubaisi, during the final metres of the race.
Sultan Ahmad Al Muhairi, the skilled and experienced captain of Al Ezz, dedicated the victory to Shaikh Mohammad.
He also said that grasping a win during the first round and beginning of the maritime sport season was a great way to kick off the competition.
'Winning was not easy, especially when the boat was in ninth place when it passed the Al Khayoor point,' said Al Muhairi.
Marwan Al Tayer, Race Officer of Ship and Sailboat races, and Mohammad Abdullah Hareb, race officer of powerboats in DIMC, honoured the winners.
