UIM Powerboat F1 - German driver Fabian Kalsow continues to attract tens of thousands of race followers throughout his native country this summer as he put on demonstration for the fifth time this summer most recently for an ADAC event in Berlin-Grunau in his promotional two-seat F1 boat.

'We had a great time and we gave many VIP's and lucky citizens rides for many laps throughout the weekend,' said Fabian. 'It's great getting back into a boat following my sickness that I developed while at the Grand Prix of Russia in St. Petersburg and now, all is well and we can now look forward to China with the Atlantic Team.'

As noted, the driver from Neustadt, missed the latest Grand Prix in Russia after bravely qualifying into 14th position for the start despite a severe bout of Pfeiffersche glandular fever. His condition was such that he called in friend and ex-F1 driver Alex Radovanovic from Belgrade, Serbia to drive for him soon following the St. Petersburg race for a promotional event in Saint's Harbour. Alex did a wonderful job as back-up to Kalsow, easily falling into place as a fill in for Fabian having handled many public relations events for the UIM F1 H2O tour in the past decade.

'I am ready to get back into my single seater race boat in the worst way,' said the 28 year-old. 'China will be a real challenge for everyone with three races in four weeks but I've grown up with challenges and this will be one I will relish.'

Fabian has a seventh place finish at the opening Grand Prix in Portugal and is currently tied with Marit Stromoy of Norway in the drivers championship with four points in 11th position. In five previous races in China Fabian has five top-10 finishes with his best performance a fourth at last years second Grand Prix in Shenzhen for the one-time Rookie-of-the-Year.

The UIM F1 H2O Championship 2010 tour continues with the third Grand Prix scheduled for the new setting in the city of Linyi for the weekend of the second and third of October. Four drivers are within a single point in the lead for the Drivers Championship led by 2008 World Champion Jay Price of the Qatar Team and young star Thani Al Qamzi of Team Abu Dhabi who both have 21 points.

The season is just now shifting into a higher gear and the excitement level is gaining strength as the series heads to China in early October.

The appeal of offshore
Is there still appeal? Have we made it too onerous? Why would someone take it up now? I had been pondering. Yes. Marquee events have no issue attracting entrants. Middle Sea, Transpac, Cape to Rio, Fastnet, and Hobart all spring to mind instantly, but what of the ‘lesser' races? Lots of boats in pens (slips) a lot of the time
