Powerboat P1 SuperStock Championship 2010. The PSP Southampton Boat Show will be the backdrop for the fourth round on September 12.

Visitors to the PSP Southampton Boat Show will be able to watch the UK’s premier marine motorsport series race on Southampton Water with up to 20 of Britain’s best offshore racing teams powering onto the south coast for an adrenaline-fuelled day of fast and furious action.

Andrew Williams, Managing Director of National Boat Shows said: 'We’re really looking forward to hosting the fourth round of the Powerboat P1 SuperStock Championship. Visitors to the Show will get the chance to enjoy live racing, which is always a popular addition. They can watch the action from the Guinness Bar in the Solent Catering Village via a live feed or cheer the winners as they take to the podium at the end of the day.'

Following Powerboat P1’s relaunching of the former Honda Formula 4-Stroke Championship as the P1 SuperStock Championship earlier this year, there has been a resurgence in Britain’s leading powerboat racing series with Sunday’s Grand Prix in Southampton containing this season’s highest entry list amid reports of a happier frame of mind in the pit area than in recent years.

All of the SuperStock Championship teams are thrilled to be staging its showpiece race alongside the PSP Southampton Boat Show and Flying Sparks navigator, Martin Wild, believes the noise and sight of the racing is likely to generate an 'immense atmosphere.'

'Southampton is always buzzing while the Boat Show is on and having the Grand Prix here will make it even better!' said Wild.

He added: 'The noise and the sight of the racing will definitely get the crowd’s attention. One end of the race course is pretty close to Solent Park, so the crowd should get a good view of us. The amount of people that come down to the Boat Show will create a great spectacle for Southampton. I’m sure it is going to be a brilliant Grand Prix for us and the spectators!'

Described as 'an unrivalled buzz and a different thrill a minute,' the Powerboat P1 SuperStock Championship fleet will take part in four races with LIVE action beamed back onto screens at the Guinness Bar and the Grand Prix of the Sea prizegiving taking place on the Show Stage on Sunday evening.

Powerboat P1 organisers have also arranged for a spectator boat to take guests wanting a closer view of the action onto the racecourse. Tickets can be booked by calling 0207 616 5570.

Set on one of Europe’s largest purpose built marinas over 10 days, the PSP Southampton Boat Show in association with ITV Meridian offers an essential interactive experience for everyone with an interest in boats, on-water adventures and an active lifestyle; from sailing enthusiasts through to families and the ‘just curious’.

With 1000 boats of every shape and size, ranging from dinghies to powerboats, sailing cruisers to catamarans and inflatables to kayaks, there is no better place to experience the sheer variety and scope of boating. The Show is also the perfect shop window for marine products, accessories and services with over 500 exhibitors; browse the latest clothing ranges, chandlery, electronics, engines and more, discover your local sailing club, enroll on a course or gather inspiration for your next holiday.
