Prizes were also awarded to Ralph Reimann, Skipper of Sarissa (2nd place, Modern Fleet); John Dakin, Skipper of Venture II (2nd place, Classic Fleet) and Terry McLaughlin, Skipper of Bangalore (3rd place, Classic Fleet).

The North American Eight Metre Association’s North American Championship took place from August 14 – 15, 2 010 and was hosted and organized by the Etobicoke Yacht Club (EYC) in Etobicoke, Ontario. Five races took place on Lake Ontario. Participants in the regatta were from Canada (nine yachts), US (two yachts) and Scotland (one yacht).

The event leads up to the International Eight Metre Association’s World Championships being held at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club in Toronto form August 22 – August 27.

Wind conditions for the North American Championship regatta were building throughout the first day (7-8 knots in the first race; 9-11 knots in the second race and 13 – 15 knots in the third race). On the second day of racing the winds were 7-8 knots for both races.

The regatta was sponsored by PredictWind.com and Mill Street Brewery.
