A total of 206 sailboats in 20 classes started the 2010 Pure Michigan Bayview Mackinac onSaturday in Lake Huron.


Provisional winners according to the race website are as follows:

In the GL70 Class Details (USA 50045) Lance Smotherman is listed as the winner. Nightmare, Pat Considine is second with Stripes, Bill Martin, third.

Natalie J, Philip D. O'Niel III, D.D.S. (USA 5252), is listed as IRC A provisional handicap winner. Beau Geste, Karl Kwok was second with Equation, Bill Alcott in third.

In IRC B nine boats have finished with Kenneth Flaska's (USA 52875) PeaceMaker is the provisional handicap winner from Bretwalda 3, Bob Pethick and Solution, Bill Francis.

IRC C David Askew's (USA 52902) Flying Jenny VI is the handicap winner from Burden IV, H Burton Jones and Epic, Ray Adams.

IRC D it was Larry Soutar's (USA 31377) Blitz from Mister Ed, Robert M Wilber and Bushwacker, Gerald and Frances Anderson.

IRC E - Liberty (USA 25656) Robert Bert from Shenanigan, Dick and Dan Synowiec and Titan Aitken, Schultes Dumouchelle.

IRC F - Opus Dei (USA 52858) Greg and Chris Cyrul was the provisional handicap winner. Second was Sleeping Tiger, John Harvey with Umi Taka, Dennis Dice third.

J/105 provisional handicap winner was Rampage (USA 420) Matt Haglund from Sorcery, Brian Smith with Pterodactyl Symonds in third.

J/120 class winner is Capers (USA 5455) Don Hudak, from Flyin' Irish, William Bresser and Hot Ticket, Robert Kirkman.

In the J35 / T35 Class Falcon (USA 43828) Bayer/Bayer/Barnes is the handicap winner, from Mr Bill's Wild Ride, William Wildner and Night Train, Chris Herriges.

Multihull Class A has finished racing with Bruce Geffens (USA 333) Nice Pair listed as the handicap leader. Ollie, Tim Walli was second.

In the CC35 Class,Contender (USA 15560) Gary Graham is listed as provisional handicap winner. Siochail, Brian Geraghty was second and Mystery, Stephen Jay third.

PHRF - Eliminator (USA 15370) Paul van Tol named provisional handicap winner. Sea Fever, Dean Balcirak Jr was second with Limerick, Darrell Cope/Kevin Pearce third.

PHRF B listed handicap winner is listed as Shape (USA 23756) Win Cooper III/Chris Benedict with Boomerang, Matthew Schriner second and Rebel, Charles Williams third.

PHRF C winner was Albacore (USA 422) Richard Marsh from Alliance, Tom Day and Zubenelgenubi ,Eric Keydel, Conrad Keydel.

Cruising Class A, Comfortably Numb (USA 25434) Mark Miller is the listed handicap winner from Genesis, Paul Lee and Dos Mas, Gary H Gonzalez.

Freedom (USA 659) James Cooper is the Cruising Class B handicap winner. Flash, Tom Riley is second with Dog Dayz, Dan VandenBossche third.

Cruising Class C - Momentum (USA 15342) Rick and Renee Romer named as provisional handicap winner from Scrimshaw, Richard Rumon and Irish Mist, David Spiers.

Cruising Class D handicap winner is Unplugged (USA 6309) Tim Clayson, from Slainte, Joseph Kar and Ariel, Mark W. Aitken.

Cruising NA40 Class handicap winner is Fast Tango (USA 15004) Tim Prophit, Peter Wenzler. On the Edge, Mark Bevins was second with Velero VII, John S. Barbour.

Doublehanded (PHRF) Class provisional winner is Days End (USA 25589) Charles Blaty from Miriah, Michael Mahar and Patriot, Lyndon Lattie.

Beneteau First 36.7 Class provisional winner was Patriot (USA 51678) Ken Sharpe from Grizzly, Charles M. Bayer, Jr. and Red Iguana, Mark Nage.

Contender Worlds 2025 at Lake Garda
More than 170 boats from a dozen countries created a true world championship I've just spent 7 weeks sailing in Europe with my friend Mark Bulka which ended with him winning his 5th world championship. Mark has won many regattas but in his acceptance speech he described this one as the highlight of his sailing career.
