With a company restructure now complete, SLAM Managing Director Anthony Young and his team are 100% committed to the new direction and focus for the SLAM brand, as they take it to the next level in the southern hemisphere.

Anthony 'Jack' Young explains more. 'We have restructured the company that is the licensed importer of SLAM in Australia and in New Zealand – and with this new structure and company name now in place (Just Add Salt Pty.Ltd) , together with a committed team of professionals, we're really excited about the future' he said.

'Having recently re-signed clothing partnership and sponsorship contracts with international yachtsman Russell Coutts of America's Cup fame, BMW Oracle Racing, the Groupama Volvo Ocean Race Team, Yachting Australia and Yachting New Zealand – the global strength of SLAM just continues to build' he continued.

'The leader of the company worldwide is very happy with our new structure and direction – and indicated to us on a recent visit to Australia that we are now very well equipped to take the SLAM brand and its activities in the southern hemisphere to the next level ' Young said.

SLAM opened the doors of their new outlet in Sydney this weekend, in the inner city suburb of Waterloo, 14 Danks Street is the new SLAM outlet store.

The outlet opening marks the beginning of a new era for SLAM in Australia and New Zealand, and Young said he was pleased with the first day of trading.

'We had a good day today in the outlet - we're in a great spot for walk in's and we were busy all day' he said.

'And SLAM Australia NZ has an unwavering commitment to its own sponsorship portfolio – as a major co-sponsor of the Australian Sailing Team, and the New Zealand Sailing Team, an official clothing partnership with Sail Port Stephens, and a selection of other projects and partnerships in the pipeline.

'Our direction has shifted from having SLAM product placed in many retail outlets to now being exclusively available through a select number of independent chandleries, as well as through Bias Boating, across their 16 stores and in their catalogue' said Young.

The other major focus is on-line sales, and what this will mean to the end consumer and SLAM product user, is benefits back to their own yacht club or sailing association of their choice.

'We're in the final stages of refining how this will all work, so standby for a fantastic new SLAM on-line shopping experience' he said.

An 18 foot skiff World Champion (title won in 2000) himself, Young and his design team have been using their many years of sailing experience to develop a number of projects over the last twelve months that are really starting to take off – including the leading edge dinghy collection and the Bristow range.

The dinghy collection, developed in conjunction with the Australian Sailing Team, is getting strong reviews from all the athletes now using it in training and competition – and it will be one of the many items available through SLAM Direct online – at http://www.slamdirect.com.au

And the Bristow range is set to be seen on the backs of sailors of all shapes and sizes, with the custom made, custom printed garment set to revolutionise the look, feel and cost of crew gear.

As co-sponsor of the Australian Sailing Team (AST), SLAM produce a range of AST Supporter merchandise that is stocked in a wide range of sizes at the Waterloo outlet.

For members of the yachting fraternity who have current Yachting Australia membership, there is an immediate 10% discount, and the outlet store will have regular product clearances promotions with great bargains to be found.

The SLAM Dinghy collection, worn by Olympic and World champions in the Australian Sailing Team, will also be available at the SLAM outlet, along with fashion items for spring and summer.

Various items from the SLAM Product range continues to be stocked in the national network of 16 Bias Boating Stores, as well as in the Bias Boating catalogue, and at a selection of independent chandleries.
