Tasmanian Matthew Bugg has finished 16th overall in a fleet of 55 boats in his first 2.4mR disabled sailing world championship with a 20th and a 15th on the final day of racing in Medemblik, Holland.
'It was quite windy today up to around 20 knots,' said Bugg. 'I had to do two penalty turns in the first race which put me back to 43rd around the top mark, but after that I managed to sail well and get back to 20th by the finish.'
'I’m a little unhappy that it’s all over now because I have really enjoyed this regatta and wish it could have gone on for longer,' he said.
The previous day Bugg’s scorecard had not been helped by an OCS and disqualified as being one of 11 boats declared premature starters in race seven. However, he had three top ten placings in the 10 race regatta in an encouraging first-up international performance.
