Joshua McKenzie-Brown waiting for the wind on Day 5. - IFDS Worlds Helen McKenzie
Joshua McKenzie-Brown reports from Day 3 of the the IFDS Worlds where the young New Zealander is competing in the 2.4mtr class:
Another challenging day today with several postponements of the start and a general recall. We were excited initially as it looked as if we would have 10 - 15 knots of wind for the race, which would've been a nice change. Unfortunately though this breeze died just before we started and we sailed the only race of the day in the same conditions as the days before.
My start was reasonable and I sailed well up the first beat and downwind managed to get on the inside of a large group. On the second beat I decided to head out right which didn't work out for me. It was on the final beat to the finish that I worked the left and finished 26th.
Now that I've had my first drop I'm sitting 22nd overall. (26)
