North Rip 21 labeled a pocket-battlewagon

Pearson Marine Group, Warren, Rhode Island (USA) -- A new marque within the Pearson Marine Group portfolio of premium yacht brands debuted this week with the launching of a North Rip 21. Display of this design's prototype at shows earlier this year built interest and orders not only for the NR21 but for three additional larger North Rip models which are already in development.

The North Rip 21 can legitimately be described as a 'pocket battlewagon' for serious sportfishing. The deep-vee hull and broad, flared 'Carolina' bow lets anglers reach distant hot spots with more speed, comfort and dryness than are delivered by other boats in this size range. NR21 can handle the rough stuff, the tide-tossed rips, the exposed capes and the tricky inlets - with those aboard feeling like they're riding a much more massive tournament machine. Maximum power is a single 200 HP outboard (WOT approx. 50 mph, 185 nm range with standard 90-gal fuel tank) but this boat will handle and perform superbly with less.

Anglers immediately notice North Rip's 360-degree fishability - with rod clearance even around the motor well, recessed hardware and lack of obstructions. Toe-space under the gunnels lets you brace comfortably when playing the rods.

Oversized gutters and scuppers quickly clear the self-draining cockpit. Largest-in-class fish boxes (fore and aft), a livewell mounted in the console seat (no knees dropping to the sole for baits), professional-level rod stowage, and the company's patented RipSkid deck (more traction yet easier cleanup) underscore North Rip's serious focus on fishing. On top of this is an unmistakable style, with an authoritative sweeping sheerline and classic tumblehome, both reminiscent of the most memorable designs for tournament fishermen.

All North Rip boats utilize core cell foam and are built using the patented SCRIMP infusion process which results in lighter, stronger hulls. Each boat comes with a 20 year hull warranty; a first for the center console market.

North Rip 21's particulars: LOA - 20'9'; Beam - 8'0'; Hull draft - 1'2'; Dry weight - 2,400 lbs (for sensible trailerability); Transom deadrise - 20 degrees.

Of course, there's more. The North Rip 21 is soon to be joined by the North Rip 29 (tooling nearly completed; first boats in late Fall) and North Rip 36 and 42 (tooling for 2011 launching). Each model is semi-custom and hand crafted to each clients' desires. The build process allows a customer with specific needs for fishing, diving or a yacht tender to achieve his/her goals.
