No Wet Weather Delays at Sydney City Marine

by Jody O'Brien on 2 Jun 2010
The rain stops nothing stops at Sydney City Marine Sydney City Marine www.sydneycitymarine.com.au
While the wet weather might cause delays on many job sites and at other boat yards, it's all full steam ahead with no time lost at Sydney City Marine.

As the rain has come and gone...and then come back again and again over the last few weeks in Sydney, the 3200 square metres of undercover hardstand has allowed the team at Sydney City Marine to carry on uninterrupted – something that ultimately saves time and money for the customer and boat owner.

A few of the projects currently underway undercover include:
- major refit on a 60 foot Pilot boat
- antifouling on a 48 foot Maritimo
- major interior work on a 34 foot Hanse yacht
- re-spray and rigging work on a Summit 35
- prop work and antifoul on a Riviera 48 Sports
- major engine room rebuild and antifoul on a 32 metre catamaran (charter vessel)
- new Bimini work on a 30ft Marshal Lord
- engine work on a 5.5 metre sports runabout

Facility Manager, Stuart Dodds said the undercover space is one of the many advantages that Sydney City Marine has over other boatyards.

'All of these jobs would have had to be put on hold due to rain - being undercover allows us to work on the boats, maintain working deadlines and stay within budget or quoted prices'

'It saves the boat owner money, particularly when they are being charged for the time spent on the hardstand – because we have no delays and don't charge any extra for being undercover when it rains, it doesn't impact on the cost of their job with work continuing as normal 'said Mr Dodds.

'We set high standards in delivering a great experience, quality results and value for money to our clients, and being able to stick to the launch date given at the start of the project is integral to that'

With a small and a large spray shed, any spray painting is done in a dry, enclosed environment, and both sheds have been kept busy.

'In the large paint shed, we have a small sports yacht and a 4.2m centre console being prepared for a re-spray, whilst in the smaller shed, we've just finished a total re-spray of 44 foot custom power boat'

As with most real estate whether it be residential or commercial, location is important, not just for your physical address but for what benefits that address provides for you, and where Sydney City Marine is located certainly has its benefits – and they're not confined to being five minutes drive from the Sydney CBD.

'Depending on the direction and volume of the rain, we often find that work can continue on the open hardstand areas during inclement weather, due to being in the rain shadow of the Anzac Bridge' said Mr Dodds.

With a complete range of services all in the one location, Sydney City Marine is a world class facility supported by a team of industry professionals with years of experience.
