Second place in the last race of the 2010 Rayglass New Zealand Offshore Powerboat Championship was enough to secure both the Superboat Class and overall New Zealand Title for ‘Doosan’ and her crew of Sam Filmore and Cary Gleeson.
‘Fairview Windows and Doors’ lead from start to finish and were unchallenged for the race win, but ‘Doosan’ had their eyes firmly on the championship and paced themselves to ensure a solid finish that would take them to the title ahead of the Australian Champion boat ‘Team 3’.
This is the fourth time that a Bakewell-White boat will carry the coveted NZ-1 into the next seasons racing and we are very proud of that achievement given that the competition are running boats that cost a lot more to build and are from manufacturers that have a massive reputation in the world of powerboat racing.
Congratulations to Sam and Cary for a win in their debut season in the Superboat class, and we thank them for adding another winner to the Bakewell-White stable.
