The Coppa Carlo Negri Cup is a perpetual challenge trophy. Italian yachting photographer Carlo Borlenghi has been on the water there. - Part one
It was established in 1945 and designed by Beppe Croce, historian and president of the Italian Yacht Club not only Chairman of the Anglo-Saxon Federation World Sailing for 17 years, to commemorate the Air Force pilot and friend Carlo Negri, son of Margaret Pirelli medal 'Gold for bravery, fell into Albania September 24, 1943 during a deliberate action on a rescue mission to Italian soldiers surrounded by German troops.
Founded in 1945 as a perpetual challenge trophy, the Copa Carlo Negri was offered by Margherita Puri Negri in memory of his brother.
It was awarded for the first time in 1964 to Giorgio Falck who then won in 1959, 1963 and 1964. The second edition, offered again with the same formula of three-year challenge was won by Louis Cross who won the victory in 1962, 1968 and 1977. Coppa Carlo Negri continued until 1982, won again that year by Louis Cross
