SailEAST 2010 IRC Series - Felixtowe regatta enjoys bumper support

by Felixtowe Regatta on 25 Apr 2010
Felixtowe Regatta
Organisers of the 2010 Felixstowe Regatta are celebrating a bumper year of support from local businesses and the marine leisure industry, which will ensure that competitors at this year’s event will enjoy some great competition and excellent prizes.

The main event is to be sponsored again by the Haven Gateway Partnership, whilst Fox’s Boatyard & Chandlery will sponsor the Saturday racing, and the Sunday racing is to be sponsored by Musto.

A wide range of businesses has also offered their support through contributing prizes; these generous companies include Musto, Fox’s, Adnams, Bruntons Propellers, Raymarine, Dolphin Sails, Quantum Sails, Spinlock and Rig Magic.

The 2010 Regatta will be a two-day event, and takes place on Saturday third and Sunday 4th July in the waters of Dovercourt Bay. As well as a series of races for modern IRC rated yachts, including sports boats and J80’s, plus locally handicapped cruising yachts, also there is now the opportunity for Multi-hull yachts to take part, which is expected to produce an increase in the number of participants.

The Regatta forms part of the SailEAST 2010 IRC Series and also includes the J80 Class Eastern Championship as well as MOCRA (Multi-hull Offshore Cruising & Racing Association) using this event as event as part of their East Coast Series

David Ralph, Chief Executive of the Haven Gateway Partnership added: “The Felixstowe Regatta is one of the East Coast’s premier sailing events and we are happy to support it and the marine leisure industry in the area. There are lots of opportunities for local businesses to get involved in the event and we hope that the 2010 Regatta is a great spectacle in which we can showcase this region as a leader in the field.”

The website has been re-designed; this will provide more information and make the entry and registration process easier for competitors, as well as being able to post the results of races in real time.

The Felixstowe Regatta is run by a volunteer committee made up of members from Royal Harwich Yacht Club, Walton & Frinton Yacht Club, Haven Ports Yacht Club, Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club, and Waldringfield Sailing Club.
