Volcanic ash spoils season opener

by Black Swan Racing - Keith Swinton on 22 Apr 2010

Black Swan Racing have been forced to pull out of our first event for 2010 the VII Open de España de Match Race Grade one in Calpe Spain, due to start next week.

Team skipper Keith Swinton is stuck in Perth with his flights to Europe cancelled. All avenues for flights have been exhausted with Emirates unable to get seats until mid May. Other airlines are unable to take any new bookings into Europe until the back log has cleared.

The rest of the team for Spain Kyle Langford, Kinley Fowler and Jakob Gustafsson are already in Europe. They hope the situation will clear so they can travel to Spain to sail with world number two Torvar Mirsky who has offered to take Keith's place at the event.

'It's extremely disappointing to be missing out on a top level event. We were really looking forward to getting back into it, but this is completely out of our hands. Fortunately I will be able to make it over for our second event in late May, were we will try to qualify for Match Cup Sweden. I wish Torvar and the guys good luck travelling to Spain and at the event.'

Black Swan Racing would like to thank all our supporters.
