SeaWide is named distributor for Blackline GPS Corp, Harpoon GPS

by Andy Adams on 4 Apr 2010
SW
Blackline GPS Corp., manufacturer and provider of high-end wireless GPS location products and services, announced the appointment of SeaWide Distribution as a North American wholesale distributor for Harpoon GPS.

Serving the marine industry since 1979, SeaWide Distribution is one of the largest wholesale distributors of marine and consumer electronics in the USA with warehouses strategically located in major boating markets, including Murrieta, California, Costa Mesa, California, Seattle, Washington and Sarasota, Florida.

'Blackline's Harpoon GPS product is exactly what our customers are asking for in this market,' stated Keith Wansley, Vice President of SeaWide. 'In addition to competitive pricing, Blackline delivers high quality products that offer security to boat owners as well as the potential for insurance discounts,' Wansley added. This contract represents a significant milestone for the expansion of Blackline's sales channels in the USA.

'SeaWide's reputation for high quality products and outstanding customer service deeply penetrates the US marine market and makes them a perfect fit for Harpoon,' said Clark Swanson, CEO, Blackline GPS. 'We are also pleased to announce the shipping of Harpoon this month will meet our markets with a distributor that understands the marine customer and is clearly focused on serving the demand in this targeted market,' Swanson added.

Blackline's Harpoon GPS is the marine industry's first GPS-based active recovery solution. Permanently installed on boats, the unit combines cellular networks, top-tier GPS tracking and tamper-sensing technology that activates from the boat owner's keychain. Real-time GPS tracking allows boaters to see the precise location of their watercraft. Harpoon GPS offers unmatched security features such as perimeter and tampering alerts, operating in both water and land modes. GPS Monitoring & Recovery Service is triggered instantly if a breach occurs, notifying the boat owner via email and text message (SMS).

Simultaneously, the recovery center is contacted where Blackline personnel verify the boat's status and work with authorities on the recovery process in the event of theft.

Blackline GPS, Corp., founded in 2004, integrates satellite GPS tracking with cellular GSM technology to provide innovative wireless products and service solutions to address the growing markets in vehicle and watercraft security and recovery, location-sharing, workforce management and fleet logistics, law enforcement and loss prevention, and family efficiency concepts.

Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Blackline GPS (TSX-V: BLN) powers the Escort (R) Entourage(TM) CIS and PS vehicle security systems, combining the premium components of the Escort family of products with a level of user website connectivity, access to global databases and backend location tracking and recovery only Blackline GPS can offer.

Other products include the internationally acclaimed BlipPlus(TM) Friend-finder app for Blackberry smartphone and Apple iPhone, Loner GPS for lone worker safety, and Javelin GPS for law enforcement, surveillance, and loss prevention.
