Sail-World is coming to you live from the Viaduct Basin ahead of the announcement of the Auckland stopover for the Volvo Ocean Race. We hope to present a live commentary on what is happening.
Peter Lester is MC'ing the event. Knut Frostad is addressing the gathering by video. The stopover for Auckland is confirmed
Mayor John Banks has spoken about the impact of the Round the World races on Auckland and the support expected for the stopover.
The Hon Maurice Williamson, for the Government has emphasized the importance of the stopover to the New Zealand marine industry and the legacy it will leave.
David Endean (NZL) a veteran of several Volvo Ocean Races and America's Cups spoke about what the Round the World Stopovers be them Volvo or Whitbread have meant to the New Zealand crews as they sight their own coast for the first time.
Two races are planned while the fleet is in Auckland - a ProAm race and the InPort Race which counts for race points. The stopover is expected to last for 10 days.
