Over 120 young sailors aged between 12 and 18 enjoyed racing at Middle Island over the weekend, with mild weather and light breeze condition. The 8th Inter-School Sailing Festival took place over Saturday and Sunday at Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s (RHKYC) Middle Island Clubhouse.
Sailing in Hong Kong is no longer dominated by students from international schools. Local schools such as Operation Breakthrough, the Jockey Club Ti-I College and the Hong Kong Sea School have become regular challengers of this Sailing Festival. There were three new challengers this year, and two of them came all the way from Macau - they are the Australian International School, Macau Anglican College and the International School of Macau. There were 52 races completed on Day 1.
78 races plus 3 fun races were held over 2 days, and fierce competition among schools was seen. The Hong Kong Sea School faced great challenge to defend their champion’s and runner-up’s titles achieved last year. The overall results of this 2-day event were:-
