CORK (Kingston, Ontario) & CODA (Canadian Optimist Dingy Association) hosts the IODA (International Optimist Dingy Association) sanctioned Optimist North American Championship, OPTINAM 2010 , June 26 - July 4.
Teams representing countries in North and South America and invited European sailors will compete in this international event. More than 200 sailors are expected to compete in OPTINAM 2010.
Kingston offers some of the best fresh-water sailing in the world, excellent wind and wave conditions, and a short distance from shore to the race courses. Leading up to the 1976 Olympics, the CORK regatta offered excellent training for sailors, coaches and officials and has since become a fixture on the international calendar. CORK has hosted championships for international classes out of the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour for the past 40 years.
The race course will be a short sail from the sailing venue, Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, allowing necessary support services to be made available in close proximity of the course location. The shore facilities include event offices, boat storage, storage area for clothing/personal gear, internet café, change room facilities, cafeteria, boat and gear repair services and chandlery. Post office, drug store, convenience store and restaurants are within a short walk from the harbour.
