Champion sailors are heading to Canberra Yacht Club for the Results Consulting City of Canberra Trailable Yacht Regatta on 5th and 6th December 2009.

Sailed on Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin, four races are conducted including two sprint races early and an evening race on the Saturday, and a longer passage race on Sunday, which makes this an unique event.

CYC Commodore Paddy Hodgman said, 'each year this regatta has been held, we have seen growing fleets, more that 45 boats and excellent close fleet racing between the local and visiting yachts.'

'We have received entries from as far away as Lake Macquarie and many boats from Sydney come to participate.

Also coming to Canberra, is Champion Yachtsman and current Sydney to Hobart Race Winner Mike Green, who will be sailing in the highly competitive Elliott 7 Class sports boat fleet.

The event incorporates several local class championships and a heat of the Trailable Yacht Association of NSW & ACT traveller series which will bring nearly 20 participants, plus families and friends to the club over the weekend.

Many visitors store their boats at the club and stay a bit longer to visit the National Capital’s many attractions including the Australian War Memorial, National Museum and the several Galleries, returning home during the following week.
