LaserPerformance to launch the Vapor Optimist

by LaserPerformance Media on 4 Nov 2009
On November 16th LaserPerformance will launch a new Optimist branded the Vapor. The Optimist has long been a part of LaserPerformance's (previously Vanguard) line up. However, with the Vapor, LaserPerformance will be bringing production back to the US. The Vapor will be produced alongside the Laser, Sunfish, and 420 in LaserPerformance's Portsmouth RI production facility.

'We're pleased to be able to make this move. We have a talented team here. Bringing our Optimist production back to the US provides us with a tremendous amount of synergies from a production and sourcing standpoint' said Devin Kelly, President LaserPerformance.

The Vapor will be available in two versions - the Vapor and Vapor XD. The Vapor features the same components currently available on LaserPerformance's Optimist. The Vapor XD comes equipped with the very best components from Harken, Ronstan, TEB, and Optimax. Both versions share the same hull.

'Our product development team has done a great job with the Vapor. The hull takes advantage of the very latest thinking in marine manufacturing. Plus, having both the Vapor and Vapor XD allows Optimist kids to sail a Vapor their first time on the water all the way to the very highest levels of international competition,' commented Chip Wilkerson, Vice President of Marketing.

The Vapor XD will go on sale November 16th of this year and will only be available on-line from LaserPerformance. The Vapor should be available from LaserPerformance dealers in February 2010. The Vapor XD will make its regatta debut at Miami's Orange Bowl.

LaserPerformance is the steward of some of sailing's most recognized brands including Laser, Sunfish, Club 420, SB3 and the Bug. LaserPerformance products are actively sold and sailed in over 40 countries worldwide. For more information on any of the LaserPerformance products please visit: www.laserperformance.com.
