Gwen and Derick Warne have won a Sydney 2009 World Masters Games gold medal in the Tasar 55+ group at Woollahra Sailing Club.
The duo, from Patterson Lakes in Melbourne, won the event with a score of 12 points, ahead of Neville Wittey and Jeanne-Claude Strong (AUS) who claimed silver with 16 points.
The Warnes, who are members of the Chelsea Yacht Club, said they had put a lot of effort into their training for the Games.
'We practiced out on the water on our own team tactics and we both go to the gym. We did a lot of preparation for the Games,' Gwen Warne said.
Derick Warne said the conditions on the water were difficult, which led to some issues for their competitors.
'It was windy and tough. Neville Wittey had bad luck and broke his jib,' Derick Warne said.
Lindsay and Phillip Hextell (AUS) won bronze with a total of 28 points.
