Ponsonby Cruising Club and the IRC Owners Association have combined to stage the IRC Mini Series.

The Auckland based series, designed specifically for IRC rated keelboats, looks set to provide some exciting racing starting in early October. Dates are set for one race per month, each on a Thursday, through until December with further dates to be advised.

The first three dates for the IRC Mini Series are...

· Thursday 8th October

· Thursday 19th November

· Thursday 10th December

$1000 in cash prizes is up for grabs on each date, including spot prizes, and a free BBQ to follow racing ensures the social side of things is taken care of. Up to two races are planned for each night of the series with a start time of 5:45pm.

Crews and skippers must be present no later than 45 minutes after the completion of the race with cash draws to start shortly after. To claim your cash prize at least three of your crew must be present – no crew, no cash!

A current IRC certificate is required to be eligible to race, and with the recent introduction of unendorsed certificates, an IRC rating is now more affordable. For more information on IRC and how to apply for an IRC certificate visit the YNZ website – click here. Yachting New Zealand’s Jenny Clarke handles IRC applications and you can contact her by phoning (09) 410 9725 or emailing jenny@yachtingnz.org.nz

Entries are open now... and must be made to Ponsonby Cruising Club by 28th September 2009 (or a late fee applies). The entry fee is just $20 per night. Email info@pcc.org.nz or phone (09) 376 0245.
