Richie Boyd appointed Design Engineering Manager at Southern Spars

Southern Spars is pleased to announce the appointment of Richie Boyd as Composite Rigging Design and Engineering Manager. Based at Composite Rigging’s Rhode Island Office, he will oversee the day to day function of the design team as well as product development.

Richie joins Composite Rigging after 19 years at Navtec, bringing with him extensive engineering knowledge of standing rigging systems for custom, superyacht and grand prix projects. Richie is also an accomplished sailor having been involved in 3 editions of the America’s Cup, most notably as the starboard trimmer on Ted Turner’s winning Cup team aboard COURAGEOUS in 1977.

'We are thrilled to have Richie onboard, he brings with him a great knowledge of standing rigging systems, not to mention his sailing knowledge from years as a highly regarded crewman on everything from 5.5 metres and IOR One Tonners, to TENACIOUS, and Maxis WINDWARD PASSAGE, and BOOMERANG' says Composite Rigging Manager, Scott Vogel.

Composite Rigging produces the innovative Element C6 carbon rigging products and is part of the Southern Spars Group.
