Evolution Boats’ 500 Sportfisher has been named Modern Boating’s Family Boat of the Year (4-7m Australian).

Well worthy of the title, the 500 Sportfisher is hard to overlook as an entry-level family fishing boat. Every centimetre of the 5.00m (5.30m LOA) hand-laid fibreglass hull has been thoughtfully laid out to provide a functional fishing platform that easily transforms into a sports runabout when the fish aren’t biting.

First-time boaters will appreciate the practical design and compact profile of the 500 Sportfisher, which offers plenty of angling room in a highly-manoeuvrable hull that’s easy to command on the water and a breeze to tow behind any mid-size family car.

The stylish deep V / wide reverse chine hull delivers excellent on-water performance, while the 2.25m beam ensures outstanding stability and provides loads of internal cockpit space.

The cockpit is brimming with features including full-length side pockets, multiple rod holders and extra storage compartments to keep the fishing area clean and tidy. A hatch in the floor also reveals a cavernous compartment that fits a removable fish tub.

Forward, the skipper has everything within reach including convenient bow and anchor access via the walk-through windscreen, plus a functional helm design which offers ample space for electronics and outboard instrumentation.

Ideal for estuary and bay fishing, the boat has a huge 100L underfloor fuel tank and is rated to carry up to 115hp outboard. Packaged on a drive-on / drive-off trailer, the Evolution 500 Sportfisher is a true all-rounder.
