Cigarette The Fantastic 1 racing team has reported a 'successful' test ahead of the next Powerboat P1 Grand Prix of the Sea in Istanbul.
Tests were carried out on the #10 Cigarette Smash Poker hull last week, watched by representatives of some of the companies that provide support to the team.
Pilots Matteo Nicolini and Luca Formilli Fendi tested the new Super Wing made by ‘Flexitab’ – an innovation which it is anticipated will stabilise the boat faster than the other trim tabs on the market.
Magneti Marelli continued its programme of telemetry development on the Cigarette Smash Poker boat, an experiment which will give the team, Powerboat P1 and race control access to key information relating to the engine.
The team also tested various gear ratios and propellors in calm and rough sea in order to be prepared for any race conditions.
'The excellent results obtained in race simulation should allow Cigarette Smash Poker to be at the forefront of the Evolution class in the Powerboat P1 World Championship,' a team representative told Powerboat P1.
Cigarette Smash Poker lie in fourth place in the 2009 Evolution Championship standings following an impressive win in the Sprint race at the opening Grand Prix of the Sea in Malta in May.
