ForceRacing finishes 4th in inaugural Platu 25 Nationals

by Andrew Brown on 22 Mar 2009
Racing in the 2009 Platu 25 NZ Championships Royal Akarana YC

The first Platu 25 Nationals were held over the weekend at Royal Akarana Yacht Club. With a big high pressure area over the country there was very little wind, and on Saturday we only managed one race. On Sunday we did however manage to get six races completed in 6 knots of wind dropping to around 2 to 3 knots in the last race.

There was a competitive fleet of eight boats for the regatta and some very close racing, with boats often finishing within a boatlength of each other!

The overall points were also very close, our team finished in 4th place overall, tied on points with third, and 3 points off the winner. Full results are on the Royal Akarana website; www.rayc.org.nz The regatta was won by Simon Dickey and his crew on Oceanbridge

At the end of next week I am off to Spain for the first regatta for the 49er’s using the Southern Spars Carbon Mast. I am back with a day to spare to get to the 3.7 nationals that are being held at the Bay of Islands over the Easter long weekend.

Next news updates after the 3.7 nationals.

Cheers for now,

Andrew
