Marina berths in Rushcutters? Call d’Albora

It’s perhaps fitting that a marina on the most beautiful harbour in the world, in one of the most exclusive locations, should be firmly committed to the annual Clean up Australia Day on Sunday 1st March. Along with thousands of Australians, d’Albora Marinas staff at Rushcutters Bay spent extra time yesterday removing rubbish around the marina and waterways, with posters on display that encouraged visitors to take extra care disposing of their rubbish. It’s all part of the d’Albora ethos of supporting the local community and preserving the natural beauty of Sydney Harbour for the enjoyment of future generations.
Each d’Albora Marina, seven in total across Sydney, Melbourne & Port Stephens, participated in the clean up, with d’Albora chief executive officer Craig Karpin commenting that their support for the campaign represented the company’s commitment to community initiatives.
‘We’re a major part of the marine industry and with that comes an obligation to take a leadership role when it comes to supporting community driven environmental projects’ he explained.
‘Our staff understand the importance of caring for the local community and the environment, particularly the waterways.’
As well as being a member of the Clean Marina Programme, having licence approval from the EPA and helping out on Clean Up Australia Day, marina staff often initiate funding for community projects. The team at the Rushcutters marina have established strong ties with one neighbour in particular- Sailability.
Sailability, an organisation that facilitates sailing for everyone, regardless of age or ability, was recently gifted a small motor boat by d’Albora. The boat has become a key part of the organisation’s operating equipment, providing the ability to tow yachts in strong winds, lay markers and assist in the event of a man overboard.
The Rushcutters marina staff probably have one of the best ‘offices’ in the city, with a great view of the Harbour Bridge and a beautiful parkland setting. Most boaties just assume that marina berths at Rushcutters Bay are pretty much impossible to secure, but recently a limited number have become available. If you sit down and write a list of the things that you’d like a marina to offer, Rushcutters pretty much has them all, such as easy access to the CBD, only 5 minutes away; first class restaurants and nearby shopping and of course those views.
The marina offers first class services providing:
• Premium marina berths
• Daily dockmaster assistance
• 24 hour automated fuel – convenience – fuel up in your own time!
• Complimentary pump out facilities
• CCTV cameras and night security patrols
• Access to wireless internet connection
• Reciprocal berthing rights
• Reputable on site marine businesses:
o Riviera Sydney & Vic Sail (Beneteau Yachts)
o East Sail – Sailing school and charters
o Sturrock’s Ship Chandlers
o Yacht Electrical Solutions
o Sydney Marine Boat Services
o Sydney Boatshare
D’Albora Marinas provides the facilities to accommodate over 1400 vessels, with each marina having its own unique identity and charm. In NSW you can berth at a d’Albora in Rushcutters, The Spit, Akuna Bay, Cabarita Point and Nelson Bay. South of the border excellent berthing is to be found at Melbourne’s Pier 35 and Victoria Harbour, based in the new development precinct of Docklands.
For the small boat owner, d’Albora also offers storage facilities at Akuna Bay and Pier 35 in Melbourne. With just one hour’s phone notice, d’Albora will have your boat ready on the water for your boating adventure and upon your return you can leave it in the water or they will return it to the rack – a great way of avoiding costly antifouling and keeping hulls pristine. Owners of larger vessels may appreciate the swing mooring facilities and seven day tender service available at The Spit, as well as marina berths.
Although all the d’Albora Marinas have their own individual attractions, Rushcutters represents something of a high point in boating addresses. It’s that rare combination of parkland in the middle of the city; the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, home of the Sydney Hobart Race, just next door; million dollar Harbour Bridge views and ultimately an extremely convenient place to keep your boat.
