Day two of the Napier Sailing Club New Year regatta again proved challenging for sailors, race management and support craft with 20 to 30 knot north westerlies sweeping through the course. With temperatures over 30 degrees, for those that could cope with the wind it was some fantastically fast sailing.
Three races were completed for the Noelex 25, OK’s, Lasers, 420’s, Javlin, F15, with all other classes completing two races. Noelex 25 Elderberry Wine skippered by Bob Witham handled the conditions well to take three bullets. In the 420’s Logan Dunning-Beck and Ben Goodwin again showed their class with two bullets and a second.
Josh Porebski dominated the Laser Radial with three bullets and was the only one to finish race three.
Luke O’Connell has carried on his from in the OK dinghy and has a dominating lead over second placed Peter Scheuerl. Oliver MacKay is having a close tussle with Keith Inglis for first place in the optimist.
Racing concludes 3rd of January with three races scheduled.
