Two independent directors reappointed to AYF Board
by Mark Rothfield on 6 Feb 2002
Two independent directors have been re-appointed to the AYF Board to complement the experience and expertise of the State-nominated directors.
Leigh Minehan, partner and Chief Operating Officer at accounting
powerhouse PriceWaterhouseCoopers, is back 'aboard' after
serving as Treasurer for six years until his term ended at the Annual
General Meeting last year.
The former CYCA commodore, who is also a member of Royal
Sydney Yacht Squadron and Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Squadron,
brings more than a wealth of financial knowledge to the post - he
has done nine Hobarts, winning two on corrected time aboard Indian
Pacific and Sagacious
The other new face is Campbell Rose, 37, who was a director on the
original AYF Board in 1995/96. Cam was executive director of the
Victorian Yachting Council (now Yachting Victoria) from 1990-1995,
then became Chief Executive of Melbourne Major Events Company.
A member of Royal Brighton Yacht Club, he also ran the successful
Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games bid and most recently was
chief executive of the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane.
Other current members of the Board are President Don Nickels, a
veterinary surgeon from WA; NSW’s John Allanson who is a lawyer;
Robert Tranent, professional skipper from Cairns; Graeme Ainley
from Victoria, who is a civil and structural engineer; and South
Australian company chairman Wally Rantanen.
