Malaysians from all walks of life got a glimpse of the thrills and excitement of the Monsoon Cup Malaysia 2008 with the staging of a live outdoor concert.
Held at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, the concert featured Malaysia’s favourite artistes such as Affif, Amelia from Akademi Fantasia, Fadzli Zainal, Hattan and popular rock singer Amy Search.
The crowd had the opportunity to participate in various games and competitions which ran simultaneously with the concert offering attractive prizes to the winners.
'This concert is just the tip of the many other exciting events we have lined up around the race. It will be a thrilling race in Terengganu as the world’s top sailing teams race to become world champions,' said Peter Gilmour, Race Advisor of Monsoon Cup Malaysia
'Staging the live concert is our way of bringing the race experience to the public outside Terengganu and it is also part of our effort to give back to the communities who have supported us the past few years,' he said.
The Monsoon Cup Malaysia will be held from 3 - 7 December 2008 around Terengganu. It is part of the World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) and the event promises to be an exciting with the return of last year’s winner to defend his title. Once again the battle for the championship trophy will see the top sailing teams in the world pitting their skills against each other on the last leg of the tour.
Gilmour added that throughout the race period, spectators can look forward to participating in other activities organised specifically for them. This includes the Monsoon Cup Kick Off Concert, Monsoon Cup Fun Run, Children’s Colouring Competition and the Monsoon Cup Joran (fishing) competition, daily cultural performances, celebrities meet and greet and a lot more.
