Gul RS400 Nationals Championships at Exe SC

It’s national championship time again at Exe Sailing Club next week, when 45 boats and 90 sailors from the RS400 fleet will converge on Exmouth from sailing clubs all over the UK for the 2008 Gul RS400 Nationals Championships.

This is the first major championships to be hosted by Exe SC since the hugely successful RS200 event in 2006. The two-person RS400, like its smaller sister the RS200, was designed by Exmouth-based Phil Morrison. Its combination of high performance and smooth handling has made it a favourite amongst competitive dinghy sailors.

As a 'one design' craft, it allows sailors to pit their skills against one another in virtually identical boats.

Racing starts on Sunday 24 August at 1pm, and goes on until Thursday 28 August.

Weather permitting, the racing will be held out at sea and spectators on Exmouth’s sea front will be treated to the sight of this large fleet of dinghies making their way out to the sailing area after launching from the beach near the sailing club, and sailing back again after racing.

The club has organised a full social programme too, which gets under way with a civic reception on Sunday evening to be attended by Exmouth’s mayor and a number of town councillors. We hope all our visitors will have a great week, on and off the water. All we need now is the weather!
