This Week's Product Ideas - Security for your Boat

Universal Electronics Lock:

Marine electronics are an expensive investment for boaters and an easy target for thieves – just unscrew the knobs, unplug the cords and walk away. In a matter of seconds the electronics are gone.

This Universal Electronics Lock secures bracket-mounted electronics, leaving a thief no other alternative but to move on. The compact and rugged lock replaces one of the bracket knobs and secures the unit to the bracket. One size fits GPS and VHF radios made by virtually every manufacturer. Outboard Motor Lock:

An unlocked outboard motor is also an alluring target for the thief, and here is a simple, one-piece design which makes it the easy to install. The brass lock barrel is permanently attached to the sleeve and slides in and out for ease of use. Simply insert the key and turn 1/2 rotation to unlock.

Now pull the lock barrel out to the open position. Slide the sleeve portion over the outboard motor clamp screws and slide the lock barrel back into the closed position. The lock also features rattleproof lining and reversible keys for easy insertion. Fits most small outboard motors up to 40HP.

However, salt water can adversely affect any of these small locks. If you leaving your outboard motor for long periods in salt water environments, Sail-World recommends that you have a similar lock manufactured in stainless steel. The alternative is having to replace this - or any outboard motor lock which is not stainless - frequently.
