Dan Slater led for most of the 2008 Finn Gold Cup before finishing second overall, he had excellent light air speed, which is very encouraging for the Olympics Jeff Crow/ Sport the Library http://www.sportlibrary.com.au

Dan Slater, a former ISAF Youth World champion, 18ft Grand Prix skiff sailor, 2000 Olympic representative in the 49er class, and now the NZ Finn Representative in 2008 is profiled by TVNZ's Martin Tasker.

Slater sat out the 2004 Olympics in rather controversial circumstances, but bounced back in 2005 in the Finn class, finishing second in the 2008 Finn Gold Cup after leading right up to the last day of the event.
