Maritimo appoints new Public Relations manager

by Maritimo Media on 7 Jul 2008
Geoff Middleton SW
Maritimo, Australia’s premier builder of luxury, long-range cruisers, has announced the appointment of Geoff Middleton as its Public Relations manager.

Mr Middleton most recently held the role of editor of marine industry magazine Trade-A-Boat for nearly five-years and has previously held senior public relations positions in the automotive industry.

He comes to Maritimo with a wealth of marine industry knowledge gleaned from his boating journalism and a life spent on the water, including countless yachting events and more than 40 ocean races, many o the treacherous waters of Bass Strait.

He has owned and operated many boats, both power and sail, and at present owns the historic yacht ‘Lionheart’, which took solo yachtsman Jesse Martin on his record-breaking round-the-world voyage.

'We’re very pleased to have Geoff come aboard,' industry icon and Maritimo CEO, Bill Barry-Cotter, said.

'His knowledge of matters concerning the boating industry and his experience as a public relations executive in the auto industry will certainly be advantageous to us in the next phase of our growth.'

The company’s new public relations department includes another well-known marine industry identity, Bob Wonders.

Bob has been a consultant with Bill Barry-Cotter since the establishment of Maritimo in 2002 and will assist Geoff in the operations of the public relations department.

'It’s great to be joining a company like Maritimo,' Middleton said.

'All the people involved, especially Bill and the marketing team, are passionate about the industry and passionate about the boats they build.

'It’s infectious and I’m really looking forward to joining in that spirit.

'Over the years I have had the pleasure of driving many boats, in Australia and overseas, and the Australian-built Maritimo breed is certainly among the best in the world.' He added.

Mr Middleton is scheduled to start with Maritimo in late July.
